For dogs bred with the Old World instinctual guarding qualities of the true Molosser.

We guarantee to replace any pup which proves to have a genetic fault which may not be treated by reasonable means*, and which would detract from the quality of life for the dog. Such dog or pup would be replaced from the first available litter we breed, We do not pay freight, and may require the return of the faulty dog.   Minor faults such as cherry eye are not serious and we will not replace pups or dogs with such minor faults. Nor can we guarantee that any given dog will breed.   Neither can we, or any breeder, guarantee a young pup will be show quality, this is just not possible, no one can tell how a pup will develop. If you are intent on showing, best to buy an older dog, or be happy to get the pick of the litter and take your chances.    To my knowledge, very few of our Neapolitan Mastiffs have been shown, Aust. CH. Abcalert Hanibble, and Aust. CH. Abcalert Shadow both males, and one of our females in Victoria has also recieved her championship Abcalert Artemis. Abcalert Fenrir has also gained his Championship and won his class at the 2006 Perth show.  I do not show myself, I am too far from the main circuit to bother, and do not like the criteria toward which most show kennels breed, the show clique have been the ruination of many a "working" breed.     I am very proud to have bred these champions, as anyone would be, but never  do I choose breeding stock for looks alone.

As stated in Mario Zacchi's book 'The Neapolitan Mastiff': "At any rate it must be said that compared to some defect or other in shape, the psyche of the animal has quite a different merit. If the title of champion plainly bears witness to prestigious external beauty this always remains secondary to such endowments as fidelity, courage, intelligence, all of which cannot shine forth at the show."

My own sentiments entirely.

UPDATE ON GUARANTEE, PLEASE READ.

Due to a number of false claims made in the last year or two I need to update my criteria for replacement guarantee, one reason this guarantee is given apart from fairness to buyers, is to evaluate progeny and to know what faults may be occurring in them, when false claims are made it throws my records out and breeding stock may well be blamed, wrongly, for producing faulty pups, this can mean that good dogs get culled for no reason.

To estimate the breeding value of a line, or of an individual, to keep track of progeny is very important, if buyers are not offered a decent incentive to report back to the breeder, many do not, and the breeder may well keep breeding from dogs unworthy to be bred through a lack of knowledge, tests alone do NOT indicate what the dogs may throw as far as many genetic defects are concerned, so here I must rely on the honesty of buyers when making claims, to a large extent I have done this in the past and not until I got a bit suss. of a couple of buyers and actually followed up on them have I found them to have been telling porkie pies.

To replace a non faulty pup is not such  big deal, but what is, is the fact that I then do not know what my breeders are in fact throwing, this IS a very big deal to me.

So, in future, no pup or dog will be replaced unless I have a full and documented report from a reliable vet of the claimed condition (even though this has always been a stated requirement, I have, in the past taken an owners word for what their vet said and not demanded to see proof)

Only takes a few to spoil it for the rest, and that they have done, I may also need a second opinion in some cases, as some vets will bend over backwards to tell a client that their dog has a genetic fault when in fact it does not.  Others do not have enough knowledge of the breed and will make assumptions which are wrong.
